Maxcy Gregg and William Rose

William Rose, born a slave in Charleston, lived a remarkable life. He served officers in three wars, and afterward worked the rest of his life in the State House, and was a celebrity. People would come from far and wide to hear him tell stories. At noon on Friday, July 24, the museum’s Curator of Education Joe Long will deliver a free lecture on “Maxcy Gregg and William Rose.” The talk will be at the Cayce-West Columbia Branch of Lexington County Public Library at 1500 Augusta Road in West Columbia.
